With the constant pings, meetings, playdates, and everday ’emergencies’, it can be nearly impossible to stop and reconnect to ourselves and our loved ones. And if, by chance, we do stumble upon some time, do we ever remember to be present for it? This vacation is for those ready to stop and smell the ‘gitanillas’. Morning yoga and meditation classes will bring you back to your true self, so afternoons and evenings may be spent truly being present for family, friends, and new companions. No fumbling through the refridgerator trying to figure out what’s to eat, we’ve got that covered with three vegetarian, organic, locally grown meals daily. Feeling adventurous? Schedule a guided hike through the glorious Andalusian hills, or ignite your passion watching a local Flamenco show over a savory regional meal. This is an experience you’ll carry for years to come- a feeling, a memory, of how life should be lived.
Three whitewashed villages serve as gateways to the retreat center. Zahara de la Sierra is one of Andalusia’s most striking villages, sashaying up a craggy, castle-topped peak in the park’s northern reaches. It’s just 30 minutes by car, where you may visit a traditional Olive Oil Factory, unique in the country. The second village, El Gastor, also known as the Balcony of the Andalusian White Villages, is a charming small town, within fifteen minutes walking distance. This area of Cadiz is a Unesco certified biosphere reserve since 1977, and according to BBC Travel, it’s the best place to hike in Andalusia. The third and largest village, Ronda, sits atop the spectacular El Tajo Gorge. Ronda was much frequented by American literary figures Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles, further adding to the town’s acclaim.
